What you want to do is arrange it so that it looks like mine below, with your pc sound card output selected, your pc sound card input deselected and the rocksmith usb guitar selected. I´ve just downloaded the free version of guitar rig 5, and i have the same problem as you, though i´m connecting the guitar via usb with the rocksmith interface cable. The sound card is a realtek hd audio card. I can just load an mp3 into the tape deck and let it roll for a few minutes.
